The fact that the authors of the critical Substacks hide their own identity speaks volumes to me. I am sure someone knows who they are, but until they are willing to divulge their own identity, I put less faith in their analysis. If they want to contribute to the conversation, be honest and open. I suspect they have many conflicts of interest and can not be fully trusted. As always, show your work! Present factual data. Provide your thoughts and analysis on said data. AND then expect debate. I think Jeff does this... so why is that so controversial?
the fact they gripe from the shadows means that they are fearful about "blowback" (golden rule here... "do unto others..."). Not bad writer(s) if they could focus on issues, and not in a mean spirited way. I would welcome more perspectives.
What they don't seem to grasp is that Jeff isn't mean spirited. Sure, he might have his own personal bias. <shrug> Who doesn't.
These are columns/opinion pieces, not "news reporting". (And, I would think, anyone with a journalism background would know this. The writing of the tick does sound like someone who is familiar with J-School.)
I would welcome a second focus on Clallam County, if someone wants to present another view. The more the merrier. Too bad the tick and the sumgui (which sounds rather lewd, actually) are such chickens.
Mimi a second focus exactly! I'm more than willing to read others opinion, but when the opinions get to personal attacks and nonsensical ranting without clear thoughts, I shut them down.
Well, your home is beautiful, you have a good heart and a wicked sense of humor. Someone has to be brave enough to stand up and point out the dirty dealings we can’t see. Thank you.
God bless you Jeff and your friend for being brave enough to have that heartfelt conversation.
Thank you for being the watchdog and opening eyes. Perhaps this will spring forth an awakening of conversations and actions one ripple at a time, one step at a time.
Great article. I think the loss of civility is a byproduct of Covid. I will never forgive how bad it got for those of us unwilling to bow to authoritarians demanding masks, distance, and jabs. Especially when they demanded it of our children. So yes I agree heart felt conversations are needed, but I'm still waiting for some apologies.
This article is an inspiration. You and your friend get it. Converse and listen. Share and advise. Laugh and feel. It's a comfort to know that the good people of Sequim won't let the business of greed, vanity, and deceit win. Jeff, you are a true friend, and I am happy that your dear friend is still in your life. Grace and blessings.
Judith Hill you are a monster. You are so convinced you and your ilk are 'right' you will go to any lengths to tear down that in which 'you' don't believe.
The phenomenon of self-aggrandizement is deeply rooted in psychological constructs, primarily revolving around concepts like egotism, narcissism, self-esteem, and insecurity. Understanding these underlying psychological factors provides insight into why individuals might engage in self-aggrandizing behavior.
High self-esteem can sometimes manifest as overconfidence, leading to self-aggrandizing behavior.
Conversely, low self-esteem might prompt individuals to compensate by exaggerating their accomplishments or abilities.
Insecurity, often lying beneath the façade of confidence, can drive individuals to continuously seek external validation through self-aggrandizing acts.
But, Judith, that is just my opinion. I have my own problems. Deal with yours and I'll see what I can do about mine.
Billy. No one likes a useful idiot. All the talk about people finding out where Jeff Tozzer lives being doxed on social media is total nonsense. It looks like he has played his followers by claiming threats against him are the result of being doxed on social media. If I am a useful idiot, a few of his followers just earned that sobriquet. A lot of Jeff's followers have proven themselves to be useful idiots, as he has totally played them. WOW! I just did an Internet search for Jeff Tozzer's address. This is what came up. I am redacting his address. "Where does Jeffrey Tozzer live currently? Jeffrey Tozzer's current address is **** ********* Rd, Sequim WA 98382. Jeffrey has lived there for about 27.3 years, since December of 1997."
I’m not sure how we got lost over the years. Where did common sense and debate go. The mind is a funny thing. Like taste it can tell you things are just not right. Even though the label says it’s what you want to taste it can be rotten. Thanks for giving us a chance to see sometimes the things that just don’t taste or feel right. I’m a white male. Why have I been prejudiced against me my entire life (75) years young. We strive for equality but actually reversed our fundamentals. Thank you Jeff! 🫶👍
Beautiful article Jeff. And you ever feel fear or have people coming to your house. Call me, I live for confrontation!!! And we all know how wack job people can be in this world.
Thanks, Greg. They made a movie that, I think, would be a helpful model for us to follow. I'll be Whitney, you be Kevin... "And I-eeeeee-eye-eeeee-eye, will always love you-oooooo-ooo-ooo-oo..."
This is the part of Clallam County Watchdog that I look forward to after posting our thoughts, feelings and at-times, controversial; we're all still human biological organisms of the same species. I get that some are not compfortable owning their thoughts, publicly, but I also realize that much of the uncertainty and negativity would disappear if we all did. Putting a face to a label makes us all brothers and sisters, especially after removing our keyboard warrior masks and hitting the "power button" Thank you, Jeff, an outstanding day awaits; everyday is Friday. Perception is a game changer.
When I wonder what has happened to civility and to our ability to just calm the internal storms, I am reminded of something I learned long ago. Anger is rarely about what is being shouted from the rooftops. Anger is rooted, and fueled, by fear. Some we 'hear' from now are just empty echo chambers brought in to stoke the flames but most are simply afraid of the changes and the lack of accountability. Remember that, and know that once you remove faith and hope from someone's existence, it's a pretty bleak world out there. Thank you, Jeff....for a great article.
Thank you Jeff for reminding me of the truly important things in life. My best friend of 50+ years moved here 7 years ago. He is a hard core Democrat and we can talk about anything in the world except politics. I've tried but he gets so upset I have given up on logic, statistics, and anything political since I found out he has congestive heart failure. I'm going to give him a call right now. Reminisce about old times, and enjoy the time we have left on God's great earth. Hang in there buddy the people talking shit about you don't have a clue what a good person you are.
Well you did it my friend. The tears started flowing and my heart softened. How could that be? I’ve protected it with anger and a hardness that is pretty tough to crack. I’ve had to examine that recently and the conclusion is I am deeply, deeply saddened at the loss of many friends and the Sequim community I’ve known for 50+years.
As the fabulous Cher belted out,
“If I could turn back time, if I could find a way”.
On the bright side, new friends have emerged and for those I am deeply grateful. I am absolutely blessed your mom put us together that evening in Sept of 23. ♥️
Thank you for such a well written and thoughtful article. I'm impressed by your ability to stand up for your beliefs and be a voice for those who share your concerns, but lack your courage.
Great advice: (If you ever get the chance to have a grounded, kind, open-hearted conversation with a friend, even one you disagree with, take it.) One could say that this would apply to anyone, not just friends. It is so rare for people to have real discussions now a days. It's like we are all fans rooting for opposing sports teams; very little actual exchange of thoughts and ideas takes place. Rather people pre-judge, dig in and yell "My team is best!"

Absolutely -- I agree. The personal attacks are just draining. Don't we get enough of that in the media, to everyone's exhaustion?
It's time for various viewpoints without the finger pointing and name calling.
Well, your home is beautiful, you have a good heart and a wicked sense of humor. Someone has to be brave enough to stand up and point out the dirty dealings we can’t see. Thank you.
And don't forget, WE'RE RELATED!
That’s right!!! Obviously another reason you’re so awesome 🤣❤️❤️
God bless you Jeff and your friend for being brave enough to have that heartfelt conversation.

Hi Pepai
Hope your orthos still work.

That is what has gotten lost these past years, honest, open and heartfelt conversations. Thank you for sharing.
You're right. And that makes it so much better when you finally find those opportunities.

Lovely. That was a very nice, sweet thought, and your friend is lucky.

You're welcome. Sounds like you have good friends too.
Fear and hate are powerful motivators. But they are never on the side of good.
