Off topic but relevant. I was at the unity event yesterday and had an observation I have to share. As I searched for Jake and Jeff’s tent I walked by several other political tents. I was not approached with any enthusiasm or actual smiles. It seemed that they were there because they had to be. When I got to my designation I was welcomed with a hug , introduced by Jake to his 2 friends there visiting and of course Jeff’s open arms. We on CCWD have something that is working. I have watched our county change, and not for the better.
During my years in law enforcement, proactive policing was a foundational part of public safety. Officers routinely conducted field investigations—what we called FI cards—where a small card was filled out with a person’s information, tattoos, and the location of contact. That information was entered into a database and often became critical in solving crimes, identifying bodies, and tracking patterns of activity. These FI cards were not busywork; they were essential tools. I recall cases where unidentified victims were matched quickly because their tattoos had been documented months earlier from FI cards. This kind of basic, preventative work saved time, solved crimes, and help protect communities. But this state stiffles proactive policing.
Today, the environment is markedly different. Washington’s drug laws have become increasingly permissive, and the practical ability of officers to intervene has been sharply limited. I have spoken with local officers who express deep frustration. They arrest individuals for repeated offenses—not only drug related crimes but a wide range of serious violations—only to see them released almost immediately. One officer told me that new recruits question why they are arresting people when nothing is done afterward. The response they receive is simply: “Do your job. The laws in this state won’t allow anything more.” That is a troubling narrative for any community.
I have personally reported suspected drug dealing activity on my road to OPNET more than a year ago. Despite clear patterns of behavior, the activity continues. One individual moved away, and another was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals, but the broader problem persists. The sense among residents is that enforcement is inconsistent, consequences are minimal, and accountability is lacking.
We are witnessing the results of permissive drug policy in real time: open use in public spaces, visible deterioration of neighborhoods, and repeat offenders cycling through the system without meaningful intervention. This is not simply a matter of personal choice or compassion. It is a matter of public safety, community stability, and the basic expectation that laws will be enforced.
The current “leaders” in this county use the word compassion over and over and that we cannot attach “stigma” to the user of drugs as they are free to use drugs if they wish. I have repeated over and over this is not compassion. And more and more cities across this country who signed onto harm reduction are now rethinking this and pulling back on it. This county should, but IMO never will, as the money flows into this county to the NGO’s.
I would also hope to hear from the Sheriff about the funding received for follow up on registered sex offenders. How are they monitored? Are periodic residence checks conducted? If individuals are not compliant, are warrants issued? If this information has been released publicly, I have not seen it.
In my view, nothing will improve until our laws are strengthened and our local leadership acknowledges the severity of the problem. Many residents have spoken up, written letters, and attended meetings, yet no substantive change has occurred. We cannot continue down this path. The current trajectory is unsustainable, and the consequences are becoming more visible each year.

I know that Mike French did some walk-along downtown PA, but: Where are HIS interviews with these unhoused and addicted? Not approving of campaign smears isn't supplying a solution to the problems.

We’re told to expect a sober examination of harm‑reduction data, fiscal oversight, and maybe even a little investigative journalism about municipal busing. You can vote to raise your own pay, add more benefits for self and family, and have a good chance of a generous retirement. (I favor term limits.)
Moving on. We read, repeatedly, about illegal activities being uncovered, but the story seems to disappear shortly afterward. The list is long. (Insider trading, illegal immigration, special deals with Ukraine, money for Somalia and other locations). The cheaters are becoming wealthy, avoiding punishments, and improving their skills. When do we see a demand for personal responsibility and accountability? How many politicians ever end up in jail?
I am concerned. I have desirable goals. Let us have some new goals that offer benefits to ALL our citizens. We can change our education goals. Eliminate political indoctrination and return to teaching our children to read and write. Make the goal of education providing contributors, workers, investors, instead of encouraging an influx of more needy citizens.
We seem to be building a socialist (welfare) society. (Democratic Socialist party?) How can we justify encouraging children to make dramatic physical changes to their bodies, without involving the parents? Let us all focus on involving parents into their children’s lives. This is called parenting.

Statistics show millions of our citizens cannot read. Students are unable to pass college entrance exams and therefore the colleges no longer make the exams mandatory. What has happened to meritocracy? I believe this leads to massive misinformation being spread about to achieve political goals.
Meanwhile we have a less educated population, vulnerable to the falsehoods being supplied by our media. Who do you believe? Why do so few people vote? Has our population lost trust in our political manipulations? Still, voting is our only choice.

Off topic but relevant. I was at the unity event yesterday and had an observation I have to share. As I searched for Jake and Jeff’s tent I walked by several other political tents. I was not approached with any enthusiasm or actual smiles. It seemed that they were there because they had to be. When I got to my designation I was welcomed with a hug , introduced by Jake to his 2 friends there visiting and of course Jeff’s open arms. We on CCWD have something that is working. We are making a difference and I believe we are going to win in November. I saw lots of people there so hope everyone had a good experience.

After many decades of research, I have found that there is actually a glaring difference between those who are truly motivated by happy positive energy naturally VS those who struggle & strain to be positive happy people. I am a retired law enforcement officer who served in another state, and my perspective comes from years of direct experience working patrol, conducting field interviews, and engaging with individuals living, dealing and using drugs on the street. I have watched our county change, and not for the better.
During my years in law enforcement, proactive policing was a foundational part of public safety. Officers routinely conducted field investigations—what we called FI cards—where a small card was filled out with a person’s information, tattoos, and the location of contact. That information was entered into a database and often became critical in solving crimes, identifying bodies, and tracking patterns of activity. These FI cards were not busywork; they were essential tools. I recall cases where unidentified victims were matched quickly because their tattoos had been documented months earlier from FI cards. This kind of basic, preventative work saved time, solved crimes, and help protect communities. But this state stiffles proactive policing.
Today, the environment is markedly different. Washington’s drug laws have become increasingly permissive, and the practical ability of officers to intervene has been sharply limited. I have spoken with local officers who express deep frustration. They arrest individuals for repeated offenses—not only drug related crimes but a wide range of serious violations—only to see them released almost immediately. One officer told me that new recruits question why they are arresting people when nothing is done afterward. The response they receive is simply: “Do your job. The laws in this state won’t allow anything more.” That is a troubling narrative for any community.
I have personally reported suspected drug dealing activity on my road to OPNET more than a year ago. Despite clear patterns of behavior, the activity continues. One individual moved away, and another was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals, but the broader problem persists. The sense among residents is that enforcement is inconsistent, consequences are minimal, and accountability is lacking.
We are witnessing the results of permissive drug policy in real time: open use in public spaces, visible deterioration of neighborhoods, and repeat offenders cycling through the system without meaningful intervention. This is not simply a matter of personal choice or compassion. It is a matter of public safety, community stability, and the basic expectation that laws will be enforced.
The current “leaders” in this county use the word compassion over and over and that we cannot attach “stigma” to the user of drugs as they are free to use drugs if they wish. I have repeated over and over this is not compassion. And more and more cities across this country who signed onto harm reduction are now rethinking this and pulling back on it. This county should, but IMO never will, as the money flows into this county to the NGO’s.
I would also hope to hear from the Sheriff about the funding received for follow up on registered sex offenders. How are they monitored? Are periodic residence checks conducted? If individuals are not compliant, are warrants issued? If this information has been released publicly, I have not seen it.
In my view, nothing will improve until our laws are strengthened and our local leadership acknowledges the severity of the problem. Many residents have spoken up, written letters, and attended meetings, yet no substantive change has occurred. We cannot continue down this path. The current trajectory is unsustainable, and the consequences are becoming more visible each year.

You are witnessing corruption at every level of government...not every individual, but every system is compromised in some way, so if the 'state' and 'county' governments say you can't use certain corrective measures based on ultra-liberal, anything goes ideology, the government is not our friend. Revolving door judiciary, no accountability, ignoring majority constituency, empowering dysfunction, taxation without representation, etc.

I think it means the commissioners would (sorry to be blunt) have to grow balls and take the county back for the citizens. Talk about the tail wagging the dog, it’s pitiful how obvious the county runs like this is the standard. It’s like those three monkey statues.

The problem is, when you turn illegal drugs (and the actions around them) in to a misdemeanor, where is the motivation to round up dealers, suppliers, users?
The “system” fails at every level. If anyone thinks putting the owness on men that pay prostitutes will somehow get the drug abuse out of the county, well that is fantasy. It’s the tip of the iceberg. When citizens witness drug use and money/drugs exchange hands, it’s pathetic that we get worked up, feeling like reporting this will do society a great service. Then nothing!
I think social media could be used for sharing photos. Maybe enough attention on dealers cars and buyers could shame some.(probably into getting new cars) But what is happening now isn’t slowing the death of a county. 16 years of watching what should be a thriving community of small towns, has become where people go to die. Homeowners and drug addicts. Get a grip commissioners, you are in charge and you are losers!

The Watchdog’s introduction to the podcast sets the bar somewhere near the stratosphere. We’re told to expect a sober examination of harm‑reduction data, fiscal oversight, and maybe even a little investigative journalism about municipal busing. With that kind of buildup, you’d maybe expect spreadsheets, citations, maybe a public record or two. Instead, the episode drifts into personal war stories, rumor maintenance, and neighborhood color commentary that never quite touches the policy ground it claimed to be standing on.
The podcast tries to swat down the idea that the needle picture was staged, but the defense ends up confirming the whole thing. The needles were found separately, then collected, then placed into a Gatorade bottle, then taped shut, then handed to a child for a photo. If the goal was to prove the scene wasn’t assembled, this is not the winning argument. It also raises the small matter of why anyone thinks a homemade Gorilla taped biohazard jar is a sound idea, especially one being used as a photo prop.
The primary election talk doesn’t help much either. Being slightly ahead in District 3, the most conservative part of the county tells you about as much as winning a popularity contest at your own family reunion. It’s not really the sign of countywide momentum you hope it to be, and it’s hard to take seriously.
The podcast frames the absence of tribal endorsements as a disappointment but never considers why they didn’t materialize. Given the Watchdog’s tone and Tozzer’s omnipresent campaign persona, it wouldn’t be shocking if tribal leadership decided to sit this one out. The episode doesn’t touch that possibility, and without any statements from the tribes themselves, the whole thing lands somewhere between wishful thinking and the land of make believe.
The party rumors are probably the least relevant part of the entire show. It boils down to a candidate insisting he only drank one Rainier and did not move to Washington for legal marijuana. It has the same energy as the classic “I didn’t inhale” routine, and it once again doesn’t connect to any of the policy issues the article promised. The denial is so mild it almost highlights the rumor instead of burying it.
The crack pipe anecdote is another moment where the candidate steps on his own message. Keeping drug paraphernalia in your car as a prop raises obvious questions. A prop for what, exactly? And since these items can be easily bought at gas stations, the story doesn’t prove anything about harm‑reduction programs. It just leaves listeners wondering why anyone feels the need to carry a crack pipe around in the first place.
The shower voucher concerns are presented as a matter of public safety, but the podcast doesn’t offer a single piece of evidence. No incident reports, no program details, no data. It’s painted as a problem without anything to support it. The same thing happens with the busing claim. The podcast openly admits there is no evidence and promises that maybe something will turn up later. That’s not an investigation. It’s a rain check.
SB’s segment is heartfelt, but it’s still anecdotal. Her experiences are real to her, but they aren’t backed by documentation, police data, or program records. The article frames her as offering insight into systemic issues, but the podcast never connects her observations to anything verifiable.
Put all of this together and the gap between the article’s promises and the podcast’s delivery becomes pretty obvious. The article sets you up for a rigorous, evidence‑based discussion. The podcast gives you personal stories, rumor rebuttals, and speculative claims that never quite land on the policy runway. It’s not that the speakers are insincere. It’s that the episode doesn’t provide the documentation or context needed to turn those stories into actual reality.

You can’t get there from here! Pick a goal. How about honest governance? Once you make a goal profitable the “experts” take control. We in the United States, have so many options. Hard work doesn’t pay as well as being crooked and thieving. Until you get caught. Next in line is avoid getting caught, or punished. Find a lawyer to arrange for light sentences or no bail. We voters elected these Attorneys General. Send money to Somalia. Hard to find the cash in off-shore accounts, especially if you have politicians to help. If at first you don’t succeed; cheat. Bob and weave, bait and switch, lie and steal.
The key to making illegal money is to keep shifting it around and make it nearly invisible. These thieves are expert. Can you imagine the games to play with electronic money. Is this a desirable goal? We can’t get there from here.
Try this alternate scenario. Run for government office. Make up a good story with some truth in it. There doesn’t seem to be any job descriptions that require special skills. If it looks good, fabricate a few items and add to the story. If Somalia, or other money locations, starts to become exposed, move the end location. When running for office make sure you emphasize all the free goodies. Of course these are paid by the “taxpayer”. (For most of you the taxpayer is YOU.) How else can a politician become a millionaire nearly overnight. Where does all the campaign money go? Then, once in office you have a lifetime benefit. You can vote to raise your own pay, add more benefits for self and family, and have a good chance of a generous retirement. (I favor term limits.)
Moving on. We read, repeatedly, about illegal activities being uncovered, but the story seems to disappear shortly afterward. The list is long. (Insider trading, illegal immigration, special deals with Ukraine, money for Somalia and other locations). The cheaters are becoming wealthy, avoiding punishments, and improving their skills. When do we see a demand for personal responsibility and accountability? How many politicians ever end up in jail?
I am concerned. I have desirable goals. Let us have some new goals that offer benefits to ALL our citizens. We can change our education goals. Eliminate political indoctrination and return to teaching our children to read and write. Make the goal of education providing contributors, workers, investors, instead of encouraging an influx of more needy citizens.
We seem to be building a socialist (welfare) society. (Democratic Socialist party?) How can we justify encouraging children to make dramatic physical changes to their bodies, without involving the parents? Let us all focus on involving parents into their children’s lives. This is called parenting.
Why did D.E.I. become so popular within our businesses and schools? Didn’t our Supreme Court declare D.E.I. discriminatory? Let us refocus on what benefits the majority and complies with our Constitution.
How could a school system offer a graduation certificate without any test results? What would these people contribute to our society? Performance should be mandated.
Statistics show millions of our citizens cannot read. Students are unable to pass college entrance exams and therefore the colleges no longer make the exams mandatory. What has happened to meritocracy? I believe this leads to massive misinformation being spread about to achieve political goals.
Meanwhile we have a less educated population, vulnerable to the falsehoods being supplied by our media. Who do you believe? Why do so few people vote? Has our population lost trust in our political manipulations? Still, voting is our only choice.
I am copying some comments from Clallam County Watchdog.

“We cannot choose who comes here.”
But we can choose the policies that shape the future of the place we all love and call home. Use our intelligence to improve our entire community, not just focus on those in need. The needy will benefit if we build a better, prosperous community. Promote the actions for general improvement, not just those failing, expensive, enabling programs. Have all of Clallam County grow.
With all these challenges requiring knowledge and skill you can’t get there from here with current policies. We need changes. Education is the cure for ignorance, but there is no cure for stupid.
