There's an entire methodology missing in this county how to spend taxpayer dollars in a fiscally prudent manner. The current BOCCC is directly responsible for this failure, and I'm not talking about politics. That's a losing argument. I'm talking about three people who spend money in an irresponsible manner.

We need better, whether Democrat, Republican, or Independent.

"Being an openly LGBPQ business owner puts you at risk for losing potential bigoted customers..."

If she's wondering why people may be "bigoted" it's because of statements like this. I don't care what her "identity" is but wouldn't give her business the time of day because of this garbage. Funny how she's worried about bigoted customers but has no problem taking money from the bigoted taxpayers.

Remember when you went into a business and the conversation was light and there were no signs of politics, and the owner didn't feel the need to let you know they were LGBPQ or a she/her or a he/him? I miss those days.

Maybe if she spent more money on her business than tattoos, hair dye, piercings, and other non-essential accessories she wouldn’t have to rely on public funds. LOL. I miss pride in appearance and there’s very little out here; it’s an I Don’t Give an F* attitude, and that’s not pride, that’s just sad. LOL.

HA!

Excellent comment Patriot Kathy~!

I am VERY open minded and completely defend everyone's right to make their own personal decisions, however as a consumer & human being I do pay attention to the way Individuals present themselves in business and in public. I find is absolutely astonishing that an Individual would physically let themselves go, dye their hair with atrocious colors that only used to be fit for either circus venues or Looney Tunes cartoon characters, physically deface themselves with disgustingly repulsive ink and piercings, and THEN admonish folks as "bigoted" because many of us walk away from them~! HA! If an individual decorates themselves like a Halloween nightmare year-round and they expect to be taken seriously, that is a very clear sign of mental illness that many would avoid, especially at this time in history where you never know if you can trust the next stranger that you meet. I am an old school Personnel executive, and I have been doing my best to warn these "decorated walking carnival freak shows" that they are absolutely destroying the vast majority of the great opportunities that they would otherwise have had in life. Work, careers, friendships, love, if you play stupid games with your personal appearance, you will only get stupid prizes as a result! I view these "grotesque walking paint spills" as too mentally and emotionally imbalanced to take seriously at best, and too dangerous to deal with at worst, so maybe this disturbed Individual is intentionally misreading bigotry when it is more likely common-sense~! She profiles as the poster child of "The Victim Card"~! I could care less what sexual interests anyone has as long as they are not harming anyone, so this looks like someone who has made the worst possible decisions in her appearance, likely all of her life, and now all she can do is blame others for her mistakes that have nothing to do with her sexual preferences... If folks look at the really serious clothing models these days, ALL of the models are basically presentable and do not have the visual atrocities that so many sad people have adopted for the rest of their lives~! Good Grief~! Have a great day! Sincerely, Mike

The kommissars are NOT authorized to spend our money on NGO's, NPO's, 'special' subsidies for queer folk, or anything other than basic infrastructure: fire and safety, roads, etc.

The gov't is not a social safety net. It is a tool to provide essentials as defined by common sense. Churches and other 'non-profits', privately funded, can deal with SOME social inequities.

Stop supporting the addicted and mentally ill ON OUR STREETS! Stop importing them! I have stopped giving ANY handouts to the panhandlers because of the kommissars actions!

No to drug paraphernalia, boofing kits, narcan dispensaries, free pizza, poet laureates, etc.

The kommissars are insane and need to be removed from office before they completely destroy our struggling county.😱

We all need to vote NO for any and all additional taxes. But you know that no matter how many of us vote no, they will still pass. 2.5 million in taxes for public defenders is their justice/public safety budget. Why are taxpayers funding repeat offenders is beyond me. And this new lawsuit fighting the Trump administration is going to cost us, with no vote. These people will never listen to reason since Ozias is looking to higher office and say residents don't know what's good for them. We are the minority here in Clallam and it's only getting worse!

"Our leaders talk about fiscal responsibility, but they still haven’t learned to tell the difference between needs and wants." So true, Jeff. In any fiscally-responsible household or business, when the budget is in the red, you immediately cut back spending and balance the books. That sometimes means painfully shrinking the business by reducing the payroll. When county chief financial officer Mark Lane says that 69% of the county budget is spent on personnel costs, and that when “The lion’s share of the (proposed budget) increase is in payroll [and] benefits” -- PDN article, 9/7/24, discussing proposed 2025 budget), it's easy to see where the savings could be -- if the county would quit funding non-essential crap and stick to the basics. Without massive public pressure coupled with replacing the current decision-makers with folks more tuned to the realities of fiscal responsibility, the chances of reducing the size and scope of county government are what grandpa used to call Polish -- slimski and noneski.

Clallam County needs a shutdown similar to our Federal Government. It may be a hard way, but a way to learn what Government services are necessary what those that are not. Back to basics. No more social engineering like MWBE, DEI, LGBTQ+, BLM, indigenous whatever, other nation whatever is all a road to nowhere and an expensive road at that. Managing gender, ethnicity, skin color and sexual orientation are not the business of Government.

Good sound leadership is what the voters expected when electing Ozias,French,Johnson but got incompetent compromised reckless county officials instead.I know jeff tozzer has a better knowledge of the wasteful spending than most and could probably list some we never heard of, maybe a refresher of waste would be a good reminder especially right before elections.Multi millions $$$ towards PBH,JKT for road repair over 1 million $$$,cascadia consulting over 369,000 $$$,Habitat for humanity ? other consulting firms NGO's ect ect ect ?These commissioners do not seem to have any oversight committee that challenges any spending so they spend on whatever they agree apon without any concern. Now we are getting towards end of spending year and the county budget has dwindled down more than necessary and reckless spenders want to try and scare voters into voluntarily raising their taxes by a levy lift which is much needed according to hypocrite board commissioners. So why did the county just hire a permanent county trail steward which hired another county permanent employee under her.Looks to me like county is just trying to build their liberal county party. And why did county hire somebody from another state that has not contributed one red cent into community? No other woman from clallam county is liberal enough or not enough liberals on county payroll so we just add some more.

Considering the fact that the local government management has nothing but a history of spending our public funds on things that are either unimportant or unpopular, or both, and the fact that they ram through taxes and fees that we never even have a chance to vote on, not to mention the horrendous mismanagement of funds and so-called "mistakes" that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to remedy, no, we won't be voting for higher taxes for these idiots to waste~! We are absolutely stunned that anyone would actually vote for more taxes and fees, especially given the past & current government failures. Will this election be honest? That is yet to be seen, but we can be absolutely positive that IF we are told that the new tax hike is coming, it too will be wasted & squandered on idiotic things as opposed to the most important needs of our community, and we will be right back here again listening to these criminals in government sucking around for more & more money and MANY more threats is they don't get it~! Extortionists are NEVER satisfied~!

Every sentence of this paragraph is FALSE!

"The only reason the county is suddenly holding town halls and asking for feedback is that they need our vote. When have we ever seen this kind of public outreach before? Last year, those same budget sessions cost $30 to attend. Now, they’re free."

The county is not SUDDENLY holding town halls and asking for feedback. We HAVE seen this kind of public outreach before.

Per the Clallam County 2024 Budget Calendar:

Wednesday, October 9, 2024 - Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce PUBLIC MEETING

Tuesday, October 22, 2024 - Sequim Chamber of Commerce meeting

Wednesday, October 23, 2024 - Budget Town Hall PUBLIC MEETING (BOCC Board Room 5-7pm)

Friday, October 25, 2024 - Forks Chamber of Commerce PUBLIC MEETING

Tuesday, December 3, 2024 - PUBLIC HEARINGS 10:30 am and 5 pm.

Per the Clallam County 2023 Budget Calendar:

Wednesday, October 4, 2023 - Forks PUBLIC MEETING

Wednesday, October 11, 2023 - Port Angeles PUBLIC MEETING

Tuesday, October 24, 2023 - Sequim PUBLIC MEETING

Tuesday, December 5, 2023 - PUBLIC HEARINGS 10:30 am and 5 pm.

There was a misunderstanding at one of the Chamber meetings in 2024. There is $30 fee to attend most Chamber meetings if you are a non-Chamber member and have not been invited as the guest of a member. Apparently, when non-members showed up at one of the Chamber meetings, the person at check-in tried to charge them for attendance, when this particular Chamber meeting was specifically open to the public, free of charge. It was a misunderstanding at one meeting that was cleared up.

Portraying this incident as the county trying to charge the public for attending a public budget meeting is false, irresponsible and ridiculous.

I believe you were aware of the public outreach in 2024, and 2023, and I believe you already knew the circumstances of the $30 misunderstanding and you chose to represent it as something else. Just another way for you to manufacture outrage. Nice try.
